OUR STORY
River Church Bath was planted in September 2024 with a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus and building a community where everyone can encounter God’s love. From the start, our heart has been to serve the city of Bath and be a place where people can grow in their faith and relationships. We are part of a bigger international family of churches called RELATIONAL MISSION which is in turn in association with Newfrontiers.
River Church Bath is part of an initiative of Relational Mission called Go West which aims to start new churches all across the western side of the UK.
WHY RIVER CHURCH?
As we prayed and prepared to start the church we felt the Lord particularly spoke to us through Ezekiel 47 where there is a vision of the river of God. It is a river which symbolizes the Spirit poured out on the church, the purpose of mission, bringing life where there is currently death. It invites faith and participation in the adventure of God. There are many involved and many kinds reached. The presence of the Avon in Bath makes the imagery feel rooted in the local culture too.
OUR VISION AND OUR MISSION
We’re here for Jesus - to glorify His name.
We are here for the people of Bath - in witness and service.
We love the local church and want to see it established in beauty and maturity through making disciples; and extending in mission to the cities, towns and villages around by starting more local churches.
Ultimately the 'go' of the Great Commission takes us into Bath and out from Bath, to regions beyond us and to the nations.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We are followers of Jesus and taking our lead from Him, we believe the Bible is the final authority for our faith.
We also gladly affirm the Evangelical Alliance basis of faith statement.
Spending time around us you will hopefully notice we put great emphasis on being
Bible-based, Grace-filled and Spirit-empowered.
